Power Quality

by Mark Henry, Inc. on 08/26/15

Energy reduction through power quality improvement is an effective way for organizations to save money.  Generally, power factor correction capacitors are installed at the service feeder or at the load. The most efficient place to locate capacitors is at the motor—think of capacitors as kVAR generators that counteract the kVAR produced by the motor.  An alternate location is to place the capacitors at the service entrance or branch circuit locations. In many applications, a power quality improvement strategy will pay for itself in as little as three months.
